terrible idea).

What I did do was finally tackle one of those endless TODOs we all have: organizing the drawers at home full of cables, chargers, and random gadgets.

Halfway through the mission, I found my fourth identical cable, the exact same one I had bought again and again because I kept forgetting I already owned it. That was the moment I thought: ok, I need a better system.

At first, I opened a spreadsheet. Then I stopped and asked myself: Wait, why not build an app?

And that’s how Digital Drawer was born.

Here’s the thing: 20 years ago, turning an idea like that into something real would have required weeks (maybe months) of coding, design, and polishing. Today? With AI tools for coding, design, promotion, and copywriting, prototyping has never been easier.

Don’t get me wrong, engineering still matters. Security, scalability, and solid architecture are more important than ever. But when it comes to exploring an idea, the barrier to entry is so low now that even a clumsy wannabe carpenter like me can turn frustration into a product.

And here’s my experiment: today I launched Digital Drawer on Product Hunt 🚀. Not just to show what I built, but to see if others might find it helpful too.

👉 Check it out here

If you’ve ever bought the same charger three times (don’t lie, we’ve all done it), maybe this is for you. Reviews, votes, and feedback are more than welcome and come with a complimentary montadito of lomo en manteca for your visit to Cádiz ❤️.

Thanks for reading La Churreria! The first week felt magical, beautiful graphs, shiny dashboards, all the sparks of AI. But the crash came quickly: buttons didn’t work, numbers were half-invented, context kept breaking, and every run produced a different result.

It was a reminder: without real guardrails, the gap between techies (who can code their way around limitations) and everyone else is still vast.

Now Natalia is learning Python basics to build that missing foundation, so the insights aren’t just shiny, but solid. Keep you posted about this.

The Power of Routine (especially for Creative Minds)

I think it was Stephen King who said the best writing tip is simple: sit down every morning, keep your ass on the chair, and wait for the ideas. (My brain is mashed potatoes, so maybe it wasn’t him, but I’m refusing to fact-check, because that line is gold.)

After summer—kids, travels, friends, chaos—my routine was gone. And only once I started getting it back could I set goals again and make a plan that actually worked.

Even if you’re a “creative monster” (I’m not, though my head is usually full of a thousand things), don’t underestimate the power of routine. We sometimes fall for the bohemian myth that inspiration should appear out of nowhere. But in my case, at least, the real ideas come from showing up (or showering up!) and working hard.

What’s worth my time (and what should I automate)?

This summer, I picked up The Almanack of Naval Ravikant. I can’t say I connected with every page, but one idea stuck with me: Naval is obsessed with investing his time only in things that truly matter—activities that can compound into more time, more freedom, or more value down the line.

We’re living in this wild era of automation and AI, where so many things can be delegated to tools. Which means the real question isn’t what can I do? But what’s worth me doing myself?

And strangely, that’s connected to Digital Drawer. If I’m going to spend hours building something, I want it to come back to me—whether in better experiences, saved headaches, or maybe even helping someone else solve the same problem.

A small musical obsession (and a tiny spoiler).

Lately, I’ve been kinda obsessed with a band called Turnstile. Their album has been on repeat for me—it’s raw, explosive, and their live shows look incredible. Consider this my attempt to spread the curse.

By pure luck, I’ll catch them live in Seattle the same week I’ll be announcing my new adventure. And without saying too much… let’s just say it has something to do with being a little more predictable in a world full of machines.

But that’s a story for another edition 👀.

That’s all for now—thanks for reading 🫶.

And hey, I’d love to hear your thoughts on my writing!

Drop me a comment, send me a message, give me energy! 🚀

Churro 🥨 #2 : God, kids or mission. But Naval, who is one, said something recently that stuck with me.

He was talking about a conversation with the founder of Loom. Fresh off his company’s acquisition, the guy posted about feeling lost—going through the motions without passion. Someone who, on paper, has everything yet is now dealing with an existential crisis.

And that hit me—because even in this sabbatical, where I should feel free, I’m starting to sense the same drift. That got me thinking about the need for propósito (again, I like this word better than “mission”). People need a direction to row, a lighthouse to look toward, something to aim for.

So, for 2025, I want to do my best to find that lighthouse. Not through religion (even though I was raised Catholic, but it’s not my thing), and not through family—because in that sense, I already feel fulfilled (They are my Wonderwall). But through a deeper propósito.

I’ll keep you posted on how that goes.

Thanks for reading La Churreria! You need to align with the different characters of the people around you, understand their value points, and embrace your weaknesses. This is visible as a manager but especially sensitive as a partner. If you don’t agree in a board meeting, the time and energy you all spent on it is a precious waste.

Last month, at a dinner with friends, one of them asked me about the key of 47 Degrees to achieve what we did, and after I gave a good thought to that, I wrote an article about this, and this point, I would say, the most important one from the list.

"But, dude, how did you do it?"

Jumping between different social networks feels like walking into various rooms, each with its mood.

Let me explain—because I know this sounds a bit abstract. I use Twitter, Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon. Four platforms, all focused on micro-posting. And yet, even though I follow many of the same people across them, each space feels completely different. (Spoiler: this might be influenced by my echo chamber.)

Twitter → Home, but chaotic

I feel confident here; it’s the one I had long ago. My timeline is mostly friends, familiar conversations, and quick takes. But every now and then, someone bursts in, shouting something completely unhinged. That’s Twitter for me—comfortable, but with occasional chaos.

Bluesky → The friendliest corner

Although I don’t post there as often, I find thoughtful conversations and genuinely kind interactions whenever I do. It’s quieter overall and has less content, but what about the quality? It's pretty great. It feels like a calm, well-curated space.

Threads → Aesthetically pleasing

Threads is nice. Maybe it’s the Instagram connection, or perhaps it’s just the people I follow, but my timeline is full of designers, architects, and beautiful things—less noise and more visual inspiration.

Mastodon → …Hello? Anyone?

Mastodon feels like an empty room. No one I follow posts regularly, so every time I check in, I feel like I’m walking into a silent space. This is a shame because, out of all these platforms, Mastodon is probably the least corporate and the most independent. But without people, it’s just… crickets.

It’s interesting how the same concept—short posts, quick interactions—can feel so different depending on the tool you use.

AI is taking up more and more space in my day-to-day.

I can feel it. And I’m not just talking about using more ChatGPT—I’m talking about using ChatGPT instead.

The biggest shift? Search Engines. For example, I don’t Google things anymore. Why? Because it takes longer and often feels less accurate. Let me explain:

Search Engine

I need information. So I:

Write a query in the search bar.

Get a list of results.

Click on the most promising one.

Scan the page to extract what I need.

ChatGPT

I need information. So I:

Write a prompt in the chat.

Get a direct answer, often with reasoning and sources included.

The same goal but with much less effort. I spend less time searching and more time using the information, which is a massive shift in efficiency.

But here’s the part that worries me: Who controls the accuracy of the answer?

With any Searcher Engine, I was forced to dig through sources, cross-check, and make a judgment call. With AI, I get one answer—faster, yes, but is it always right? How do we balance efficiency with trust?

Something to think about.

Hey, this is my second churro! Booyah!

It looks like this is working! The feedback, iterations, and great conversations from the first edition made it even better.

One thing I forgot to include last time: music. I listen to a lot of it (obsessively collecting records will do that to you), and it’s part of who I am. So, from now on, I’d love to share what’s been on repeat for me—just in case you want to join me on the ride.
<iframe class="spotify-wrap album" data-attrs="{"image":"https://i.scdn.co/image/ab67616d0000b273664a77b53264722d16f015b6","title":"Love In Mind","subtitle":"Mt. Honestly, I resisted. It’s another app. Another thing to manage. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve signed up for plenty of things that, after a while, I didn’t even want to keep up with.

But here we are. Why? Because I realized I really do want to create another way to connect—with you, my community, friends, or whoever ends up reading this. This newsletter is for creating and maintaining a space where I can share more personal thoughts, stuff that feels like a conversation between friends, and a different vibe from what I post on my blog.

So this is La Churreria. Think of it as a cozy little spot where we can hang out. I don’t know exactly what this will turn into, but I’m excited to find out—and I hope you are, too.

Welcome, and thanks for being here. Let’s see where this goes. ❤️

Thanks for reading La Churreria! It’s been both exciting and scary as hell. Why? Because there’s no one beside me saying, “Hey, that’s a bad idea.” And honestly? I kind of miss that. I love it when someone points out my mistakes—it’s how I learn! 😆

That said, this experience has been an outstanding learning process, especially when promoting the product. After trying different platforms and media, I’ve realized that Instagram works best for my target audience (though I’m also dabbling with TikTok).

And here’s the kicker: after years in marketing and business, I’ve found myself creating unboxing videos and other content I never thought I’d make as we say in Spanish, a la vejez, viruelas (better late than never, right?).

If you’re curious about what’s behind this product and why I launched it, I wrote more about it.

How I Turned My Hobby into a Product

I’m excited about starting a mentorship program.

When I started my sabbatical, this was one of the top things I had in mind. I want somehow to give back to the community all the things it made me during the years of my career. I am a lucky guy, made with little pieces of people who helped me on my path, so I want to help any of “me in the past” just in case I have the opportunity.

So, I posted about it on Twitter and Bluesky, and suddenly, a few folks contacted me to learn more about it. It took me a while to reply because I wanted to have enough time for that, but now that things have started, I am learning more about them… and I am just lucky again for the fantastic people who reached out to me!

I hope to give them some points of view about things I learned or failed. Wish me luck! 🤞

Where the F should I post?

This is a question I’ve been grappling with. I have Twitter (or freaking X), Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon… and who knows what else. Each platform seems to have a slightly different audience, and I don’t want to be that annoying person posting the same thing everywhere.

So, using the poll feature for the first time (another chispas!), let me ask that question (in t-h-i-s social this time! 🤦):

Well, I have to admit this was refreshing.

Writing this newsletter was surprisingly refreshing. It felt natural and fun, and I enjoyed trying out a more personal tone than my blog.

Thanks for subscribing or just for being curious about what I’m thinking or doing.

When’s the next churro? Honestly, I have no idea. But this has been such a nice experience that I’d love to do it more often.
